Amber Fort and Palace is situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur city. The Fort completed in the early 18 th century took over a hundred years to build and now offers a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of the royal families.
Have a lavish lunch at an authentic Indian restaurant in the city Visit the City Palacestill home to the Maharaja although several rooms are open to public. It also houses a museum with many antiques and artifacts belonging to the Royal family including a collection of weapons. Then visit Jantar Mantar, the open air observatory constructed by Sawai Jai Singh, and biggest of the five made by him.
See the Hawa Mahal or the Palace of winds which was constructed for the ladies of the Royal family to watch the processions passing through the streets below without being seen. It is the most famous landmark of the city of the Rajputs and stands in the middle of a bustling old market with streets spreading out in different directions.
Jaipur is a shopper’s paradise with a rich collection of arts and crafts, textiles, antique and silver jewellery, marble statues and many other handicraft items that can be picked up as gifts or memorabilia.
Evening drive back to Delhi and get dropped off to hotel or airport for your onward journey.
